Michelle Garcia :

Hi guys. It’s Michelle Garcia with Lakecdarealestate.com and Windermere Coeur D’Alene Realty. I wanted to give you a little tour of the Coeur D’Alene Library. So I will give you an idea of kind of what this place is all about. It’s actually super cool. And I’m going to obviously try and be quiet as I enter, but this is a really special place that, oh, sorry.

Speaker 2:

Oh, I’m sorry.

Michelle Garcia :

Where I actually, I want to just stop for a second to show you, look at how pretty, the trees. It’s in, we’re in fall right now, and it’s just a cool time to be here. There’s their hours. And this is, this place was really special when we first moved here. It took a long time, I guess, for the city to get this place going, and I don’t know all the backstory about it, but it was a long process. And we moved here the first year it opened, so we got to come to the grand opening, and it was fun. Actually, my kids were on the news because we were here for the grand opening. So this area down here, things are a little different now with COVID. I’m not sure if the downstairs kids area is open yet, but I’ll just come in here and I’ll show you the part that I know is open. But yeah, you’ve got, obviously, lots of books. But the reading, I mean the sitting area over here is super cool because you have these lounge chairs, really nice, very comfy.

You have this fireplace, in the winter months it’s just such a cool place to come, grab a book, or look at, you’ve got all these magazines you can, or the local newspapers. So you can just come here, grab a coffee. This is the part that I love a lot, is this outside area. Look at this. You’ve got this balcony area that overlooks the park, which, that’s McEwen park, which is just awesome. And I don’t know if you can see it, there’s a kids play area down there, and then the lake is just beyond the walking path over there, just for reference. You’ve got Sweet Lou’s and then that’s the Parkside building. So, but yeah, look at this open space. We’re in a really gorgeous day here in the fall, and so it’s just really special. But this is a cool place in whatever season.

So we’ll come back in here, and then I’ll show you there’s a teen section over in this area, big library though. And there’s just always community, I bet, I don’t know kids made those or something. There’s just always stuff going on. So that’s the teen center, they have these sitting area and tables, and then another teen area. And then you’ve got, I’ve used these before, you’ve got these private rooms, like a writing room. So sometimes if it’s not open, you have to reserve them, but you can use that. You’ve got, oh, that’s someone’s office, but they used to have a couple writing rooms. And then over on this wing, we’ve got a couple different areas for computer, like public use and computers, and it’s just rows and rows and rows of books. Their copy center, you can scan and copy things. You have all the periodicals over there.

This is the open internet area. And then they used to have this room was open with computers, but it looks like storage now. And then this separate room, another fireplace. This is just open to whoever wants to come in here and hang out and read. But, pretty good view. You have the lake in the distance, you can walk to coffee and restaurants and everything. Because we’re on seventh street, which is pretty much in the heart of downtown. And then we’ll go downstairs. Oh, you can rent videos too. Are those 3D printers?

Speaker 3:

Yes they are.

Michelle Garcia :

Oh, Hey, how are you? Michelle, good to see you.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Michelle Garcia :

Those are 3D printers?

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Michelle Garcia :

They are for public use?

Speaker 3:

Yeah. We limit it to one print-off per week, but.

Michelle Garcia :

That is so cool. I’m going to have to ask you about that later.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Michelle Garcia :

Thanks.

Speaker 3:

Great information.

Michelle Garcia :

That’s funny, I belong to, or I’m doing leadership Coeur D’Alene, and that’s one of the people that I’m doing the class with. So there’s a little bookstore, buy books in there. And then I wonder if this is open now, because it used to be blocked off. Oh it is. That’s so cool. This is really cute. They have a lot of the donors and really neat display. Excuse me.

Speaker 4:

Sorry.

Michelle Garcia :

Okay. So this is the children’s area, and we’ll go down there if it’s open later. That’s the community center, the entrance. So this is the kids section that was closed for COVID but now it’s back open. So cute. So it’s like a whole separate wing. They have reading events here, where someone come comes in and does story time with the kids, and it’s just really cute. And you have, this is all the ground level view, you have the park.

Speaker 5:

Is there anything that I can help you with?

Michelle Garcia :

No.

Speaker 5:

Okay.

Michelle Garcia :

Thanks. And you have these backpack check-in things. That goes to upstairs. Oh and there’s, so Mudgy and Millie is a local author who, well, Susan Nip is the author, but the book series is called Mudgy and Millie. It was just a book, but I think they’ve done more than one. So, you’ll see these moose around town that, well, it looks like the community center is closed, but that is a huge open room where they hold city meetings and all kinds of community events.

But we’re going to go outside to show you the grounds. Look at all this public art. That actually is a waterfall that’s on quite often, it’s not on right now though. But I do want to end here with Mudgy and Millie, because, look you have little benches, little play area, basketball courts over there. But this is one of the many moose around town, where in the book, there’s all these hints and places where you can find these moose. And it’s just such a fun little thing to do with the kids, to go hunt for all the moose throughout the area. So, that’s really cool. So yeah, if you’re interested in any other areas that you want want me to go video, let me know. But obviously this is not real estate related, but it’s just showing you how cool our area is and some of the neat things in our town. If you want to get in touch with me, go to lakecdarealestate.com. Michelle Garcia. Thanks, bye.
